Well, the Christmas season has passed again, we are onto a new year with many of us thankful for the previous year while looking forward for what the turning of the calendar brings us. The newness of another year often brings hopes and promises that we either make to our self or perhaps make to others. Many fitness facilities are crowded for several weeks as new promises of a healthy lifestyle begin or maybe the use of a Christmas gift that a loved one felt was needed to pass along.
Maybe a new year has given us a perspective on friendships we have or maybe a change in perspective on how we view situations around us. Unfortunately for many, including myself, those new promises or perspectives begin to fade, or other priorities begin to interrupt and take their place. What we often hear is how “that is just life.”: The all too common way of justifying or making us feel at ease for not completely following through. What is even more unfortunate is how the way we follow of Jesus begins to feel like that new gym membership or friendship we are adamantly attempting to follow through after the new year begins. We hit spurts where our faith is bulletproof and nothing can get between Jesus and our daily committed walk with Him. Yet life happens, we push Jesus down the priority list, He begins to be that friend we wave to from afar instead of allowing Him into our life to change us as we follow Him daily. So, as the new year begins, trust and follow and allow the Holy Spirit to lead us in it. Give up simply knowing about Jesus and begin to follow Him with more intention each day, allowing the evidence of our transformation to be the witness to those around us! Many Blessings in the New Year to each one of you and your families! Eric
